PHOTO CAFE' - Superdiversity 05.10.2016

In October the inaugural PHOTO CAFÉ will take place in Birmingham.

We welcome our first speakers Attilio Fiumarella and Nando Sigona on the topic ‘Superdiversity’.

They will debate around Birmingham's diversity scene and its new social landscape.

Attilio Fiumarella is an award-winning photographer based in Birmingham, UK.
Attilio graduated from the Porto School of Architecture in Portugal and his passion for photography led him to work as an architectural photographer since 2011. His work has been published in several magazines and books dedicated to architecture.
Nowadays, Attilio is dedicated to documental photography and photojournalism. Using a
combination of his architectural skills and his interest in current affairs, he has been able to explore the world through a privileged perspective that draws from the use of light and space to tell people’s stories.
Attilio's work was displayed in Italy, Portugal, Spain, UK and Georgia in both several group and individual exhibitions.

Nando Sigona is a social scientist with over fifteen years research and teaching experience in migration, refugee, citizenship and ethnic studies. He joined the
School of Social Policy in February 2013 as a Birmingham Fellow. Dr Sigona’s work investigates the interplay between forms and modes of contemporary membership, governance, and the politics of belonging. This is achieved through in-depth examinations of a range of experiences of membership including, but not limited to, those of: refugees; Roma, undocumented migrant families, ethnic minorities, unaccompanied minors, children of undocumented migrant parents, dual citizens, ‘failed’ asylum seekers, and stateless people. He maintains an academic blog - Postcards from... since 2008, contributes regularly for magazines, newspapers and blogs.
